NASHVILLE, Tenn. - After surrendering a goal to Longwood in the opening minutes of the game, No. 19 Vanderbilt responded with nine straight goals en route to a 17-8 win at the VU Lacrosse Complex on Wednesday.

BALTIMORE, MD - Trailing 12th-ranked Towson by one with time winding down, Johns Hopkins got two shots off in the last 10 seconds but was unable to find the equalizer and force overtime in an 11-10 loss to the visiting Tigers Wednesday afternoon. The loss snaps the Blue Jays modest two-game win streak, while the Tigers improve to 3-0. Seniors Sam Schrum (Pasadena, MD/St. Mary's) and Paige Ibello (Cockeysville, MD/Maryvale Prep) and junior Brianna Cronin (Arlington, MA/Arlington) all notched hat tricks for Hopkins.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Nationally-ranked William & Mary scored four unanswered goals to break up a 7-7 second-half tie and staved off a late Navy comeback attempt in a hard-fought 14-9 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

DURHAM, N.C. - The sixth-ranked Duke University women's lacrosse team jumped out to an 8-3 halftime lead and held off No. 9 Boston University in the second half for the 10-6 win Wednesday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium.

LAURINBURG, N.C.-Sophomore Anna Egeln (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) had a season-high two points for the St. Andrews Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team in a 24-5 loss to No. 6 nationally ranked West Chester University on Wednesday afternoon.

Charlotte, N.C.- Brittany Barnwell recorded a hat trick in today's women's lacrosse game as Queens University of Charlotte fell to Lock Haven University this afternoon at the Queens Sports Complex. The Eagles, who are ranked third in the nation, outscored the Royals 23-11 to open their season at 1-0. Queens falls to 2-5 on the year and remains 1-0 in Conference Carolinas play.

HAVERFORD, Pa. - It was exactly the type of game you'd expect played between two of the top-five ranked teams in the country. In a fast-paced, back-and-forth battle between the No. 4-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team and the No. 5-ranked Cortland State Red Dragons, played on neutral turf on Wednesday afternoon, the Sea Gulls showed why they are one of the best teams in the country, as they took the Red Dragons down 12-11 in a last-minute thriller.

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - Fourth quarter goals by senior Brad Tunis (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury), junior Dante Mancini (Syosset, N.Y./Sysosset) and freshman James Reardon (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) helped the ninth-ranked Bentley University men's lacrosse team hold on for an 11-10 upset of fourth-ranked NYIT on Wednesday afternoon in the season opening game for the Falcons.

WINTER PARK, FL - The Merrimack men's lacrosse team made it two straight victories in its Florida trip, cruising to a 14-4 victory over Rollins College Wednesday afternoon.

PHILADELPHIA - No. 4 Penn had its trademark defense back on Wednesday, holding visiting Hofstra to just five goals. The part that made the Quakers hold their breath was the fact that Penn's offense only managed six scores of its own.

ATLANTA (March 10, 2010) - The third Prodigy poll of the MCLA season was just released. And the same two programs remain at the top of the rankings. The two-time defending MCLA champion Michigan Wolverines have continued their winning ways with road victories over No. 3 Arizona State and No. 7 Brigham Young. Michigan will battle No. 13 Simon Fraser this Saturday in Ann Arbor.

It has been a long road back for pro lacrosse star Merrick Thomson. He'll play again. He's just not sure exactly when that'll be. The 26-year-old native of Hamilton hasn't appeared in a game since being named most valuable player of the Major Lacrosse League playoffs while helping the Toronto Nationals win the 2009 pro field title.

Indianapolis, IN - The NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Committee has selected Hofstra University and Harvard University to serve as hosts for the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Quarterfinals.

March 10, 2010 -- In the fourth poll of the 2010 season for the US Lacrosse Women's Division Intercollegiate Associates (WDIA), Santa Clara solidified its position at the top. The 10-0 Broncos garnered all 13 first-place votes following a 12-11 victory over rival UC Santa Barbara. The Gauchos, now 8-1, remained in the next spot and were the unanimous #2 choice of the pollsters.

ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 9, 2010) - The Bayhawks announced the new ownership group tonight made up of President Brendan Kelly, Director of Corporate Sales John Lamon and Director of Youth Sales Chris Kelly. The team also announced a name change to the Chesapeake Bayhawks.

SAN ANTONIO - Playing two games in the same day had little effect on the third-ranked Gettysburg College's women's lacrosse team's scoring ability on Tuesday as the Bullets put in a pair of dominating performances. Senior Nina Emala (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr School) put up seven points in a 16-2 win over Wittenberg University and freshman Lindsay Menton (Ellicott City, Md./Glenelg Country Day School) turned out eight points in a 21-5 victory over Colby-Sawyer College.
