About Hoosier Lacrosse

Coach Ken Levinberg

Coach Ken started playing lacrosse in 1981 as freshmen at the Illinois powerhouse New Trier High School in Winnetka Illinois. In college Coach Ken was a 4 year starter and captain of the Illinois State University Lacrosse Team. Because the team was new Coach Ken used this opportunity to begin his long career in coaching by successfully learning and playing all the positions on the lacrosse field while coaching his fellow teammates.

After college he continued to play for the highly competitive post collegiate team Lincoln Park from 1990 until moving to Indiana in 2009. While in Illinois he coached Varstiy and JV players at Glenbrook North & Highland Park High Schools. In 1999 & 2000 he was selected to coach Team Illinois Varsity, which had winning tournament records at the Vail Colorado tournament. Ken's biggest accomplishment was to be one of a handful of dedicated coaches and lacrosse enthusiasts that grew Illinois lacrosse from just 7 high school teams to a state sanctioned sport with over 8,000 male and female athletes playing at all levels from 1st grade thru adult.

From 1992 until 2008 Coach Ken was the GM of Lacrosse America, one of the largest and most sucessful lacrosse programs that ran instructional and competitive programs in Illinois. Athletes coached by Ken have gone on to play professionally and at colleges such as Syracuse, Duke, Denver, Ohio State, Yale, Cornell, Harvard, Army, Loyola, North Carolina, Ohio Wesleyan, Georgetown, Notre Dame and many other established lacrosse programs. Even the 2006 Indiana High School coach of the year was coached by the Hoosier Lacrosse director.

After marrying his wife Jaime, who played lacrosse at North Central HS and Indiana University, they decided to relocate to Indiana. Coach Ken quickly got involved in the local lacrosse scene and in 2008 he founded Hoosier Lacrosse. Coach Ken is dedicated to help grow the sport in Indiana and is excited by the enthusiasm of the players and their parents.

Coaching Philosophy
I believe that one of the most important strongholds to keep while coaching or playing lacrosse is remembering the love and passion of the game. That marks the beginning of our journey within the sport, and should remain constant throughout our progression. To become great we must embrace the spark that marked our beginning.

My coaching philosophy is a combination of things that I have learned over the years from many great coaches of mine.  It is to always work on fundamentals no matter how good you think you are.  Also to always have trust in your teammates, give 100% on and off the field, and most importantly of all……..have fun.

Coaching Philosophy:
Us coaches can only say what to do when to do it.  The yearning to be a great player must come from within.  Earning a spot on the field doesn't mean having the best stick skills, it means having the most heart and willingness to want the ball.  Number one rule of lax is to have fun and enjoy it, so during practice I try to incorporate drills that implement fun and improvement on skills at the same time.   Its going to be a great summer and I hope you join us!

Coaching Philosophy
With all that coaches have done to help me in the past, I want to give back as much as I can. I would love to continue helping the young aspiring athletes into becoming lacrosse players. My goal in the future is to make this more than a part-time job, but through the help of Coach Levinberg and the rest of his staff I believe we can turn a small growing company into one of the better programs to be a part of in the state of Indiana. While I played attackman from my start up through high school, I have played both midfield and defensive midfield while at Indiana University. Thanks to my coaches during my playing days along with Coach Levinberg I learned many different styles and techniques that I would like to teach to all younger players within our area and the surrounding areas with aspiring talent. I love lacrosse and I want to spread that joy across the state and the nation.

Coaching Philosophy

I have been around lacrosse for the last 10 years. I love the game and it is one of the reasons I am studying education at Indiana University. After graduation I would love to become a coach at the middle school or high school level. I love being able to work with kids and being able to see their growth in skills. Most importantly I really enjoy showing people how much fun lacrosse is and finding ways to grow the game in any way that I can.

Coaching Philosophy
My coaching philosophy is based on the values and work ethic I learned firsthand that has made me successful. Commitment, dedication, and effort. I believe in focusing on the journey and the course the team takes in order to reach success. As long as we make a consistent effort to make each and every day a masterpiece, there is no result other than success. As a team we must focus on each day to get better than we were yesterday. Our plan A is to be successful. There is no plan B because it only distracts from plan A.

My goal while working with Hoosier lacrosse is not only to teach strong fundamentals, but to expose to the players what it feels like to set a goal, dedicate everything you have for that goal, and attain it. I want to instill the love and passion that I felt as soon as I picked up a stick, to the players.
